Bele Chere

We went to Asheville this afternoon to pick up some clay and stopped by Bele Cher. While we were there we met a really neat jeweler from Fairview and bought Christy a pendent. Linda Caristo takes silver and gold and carves out tiny little sections, which she fills with enamel (It's called Plique-à-jour). It works out to something like a miniature stained glass. It's obviously pretty tedious and Linda has way more patience than I do. You can see here work here. We couldn't afford the really cool one, but we liked this pendant and didn't need a second mortgage.

As the garden grows....

The garden is doing well. We both like having salads for dinner and we can do that out of it whenever we want. We planted mostly salad greens, peppers, tomatoes, and squash. We've only gotten a few tomatoes so far but the were great. The most remarkable thing is that we have yet to pull a single weed. Even for the plants we put directly in the ground, using the mix of vermiculite, peat moss, and compost.

It was getting a little dark to get a good picture, but here is the current status:

Glazing Pots

Yesterday I took the day off from my full time job to work in my part time job. I had to mix a batch of glaze then coat a bunch of pots. Here are a few of them after getting a coat of one color and waiting for the next.
