Pottery Collection: Johnston
I'm still trying to get my photo system setup. I have been able to take decent pictures using one system, but it was cumbersome and I had work on the image quite a bit after it came out of the camera. I'm getting closer to being able to have a simple, compact system with little image processing, but still a ways to go. Here is another practice shot of one of my favorite pots.I realize I need to just use a reflector to cut the glare, but for some reason I just won't give in.

While Googling for Daniel Johnston's work I ran across your site - very, very well done. Enjoyed reading your blog and checking out the great photos. Thanks for the tips on the set up for professional photos of pots - I need to document my collection for insurance purposes so this will come in handy as I try to emulate the technique.
Thanks Terri. One thing I've noticed is that overall things work better when I light the subject offset from above. I'm still working it out.
